Introducing OG Reframe: Turn Existing Content into a Share-Ready OG Image

Start with a URL, text, or image. OG Reframe preserves what matters and recomposes it for the moment your link leaves the page.

TL;DR

  • OG Reframe turns existing material into an OG image instead of asking you to design from an empty canvas.
  • The first release accepts a URL, text, or image in one workspace.
  • It preserves the source's message and brand evidence, then adapts the hierarchy and composition for a 1200×630 link preview.
  • It reuses Oginify's existing generation, brand-safety, quality-check, and download paths rather than introducing a separate engine.
  • It does not yet accept presentations, PDFs, documents, video, or arbitrary files.

OG Reframe is now live in Oginify. It turns a URL, text, or image into a share-ready 1200×630 Open Graph card by preserving what matters from the source and recomposing it for the moment a link leaves the page.

Most teams do not start an Open Graph image from a blank canvas. They already have the material: a finished landing page, a product screenshot, an article, a logo, or a paragraph that explains the idea clearly. The difficult part is deciding what survives when that material becomes a small link preview. That choice determines whether the result feels like the same product in a new frame or an unrelated graphic attached at the end.

The first release brings three source types already available in Oginify—URL, text, and image—into one shared workspace. It does not treat every source as a file to resize. It treats each source as material to understand.

Why “Reframe”

“Convert” sounds like a file operation. “Resize” suggests that the source is already composed correctly and only the dimensions are wrong. In practice, neither describes the work.

A website hero can rely on navigation, animation, interaction, and the content below the fold. A presentation slide can carry more annotation because it has an audience's attention for longer. A product screenshot may contain the right evidence but no clear headline. An OG image has one static frame and a few seconds to establish the source, the subject, and a reason to click.

The material may stay the same, but the frame changes. That is why the feature is called OG Reframe.

One workspace, three starting points

OG Reframe provides three ways to begin.

Start with a URL

Use a live page when the product, article, or campaign already exists online. Oginify reads the page's title, description, visual assets, palette, and page type. The URL workflow remains the best starting point when the page itself is the most complete source of truth.

Start with text

Use text when the idea exists before the page: a launch message, report title, event announcement, or product promise. The text workflow lets the message lead while the visual system is built around it.

Start with an image

Use an image when the visual material is already stronger than the prose: a product screenshot, logo, artwork, photograph, or reference composition. The image becomes evidence and direction—not simply a rectangle stretched into a new aspect ratio.

Switching between the three modes keeps the current input and state in place. They are different entrances to the same job, not three unrelated tools hidden behind a landing page.

The shared process

Every OG Reframe path follows the same four-part logic.

  1. Understand the source. Read the page, use the supplied words, or inspect the reference image.
  2. Extract what matters. Identify the brand, core message, and strongest visual evidence without inventing claims.
  3. Adapt to OG. Recompose the material for a static 1200×630 preview with a clearer hierarchy and safe crop.
  4. Download and ship. Review the result, download it, and connect it to the destination page's Open Graph metadata.

This shared process matters more than the number of accepted formats. A longer input list would be easy to advertise. Consistently deciding what to preserve, remove, enlarge, or reposition is the actual product problem. The interface is unified because the decision is shared, even when the source material is not.

What OG Reframe is not

OG Reframe is not a universal document converter, and the first release does not claim to be one. Presentation, PDF, document, and video ingestion are not part of the current release.

It is also not a replacement for art direction. Some launches deserve a designer and a deliberate campaign system. OG Reframe is for the much larger set of pages where good source material already exists but has not been translated into a strong link preview.

Finally, it is not a second Oginify generation engine. The unified page reuses the same URL analysis, text and image generation, deterministic brand treatment, quality checks, and download behavior that the existing tools use. A new entrance should simplify the product, not create a parallel billing or rendering system behind it.

A broader design lesson

OG images have more in common with presentation slides and website heroes than their technical name suggests. All three arrange a claim, visual evidence, brand identity, and a next step inside a limited frame. The difference is attention: an OG image must survive as a small, static preview outside the website that created it.

That observation changes how we evaluate the result. A good OG image is not merely valid metadata or a correctly sized bitmap. It should remain recognizable at thumbnail size, communicate one visual proposition, preserve the real brand, and make the destination worth opening.

OG Reframe is our attempt to make that translation explicit.

Try OG Reframe

OG Reframe is available now. Start with the source you already trust: the page you finished, the sentence that explains the idea, or the image that proves it. The workflow helps decide what should carry into the share card—and what should be left behind.

Frequently asked questions

What inputs does OG Reframe support?

The first version supports URLs, text, and images. It does not currently accept presentations, PDFs, documents, video, or arbitrary files.

Is OG Reframe just a resizer?

No. Resizing changes dimensions. Reframing changes hierarchy and composition for a different viewing context while preserving the source's useful message, brand cues, and visual evidence.

Does OG Reframe replace the existing Oginify generators?

No. It provides one shared entry point while reusing the existing URL, text, and image workflows. The standalone tools remain available.

Does switching source type start another generation?

No. Switching tabs preserves the current input and state. A generation only begins when the user explicitly starts it through the selected workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fallback Q&A for hub and category pages that don't yet have a dedicated FAQ row.

How do I generate an Open Graph image from a URL?

Paste your page URL on the homepage. Oginify reads the page and paints four 1200×630 cards in about 30 seconds — no signup, no prompt, no template picker. Download the PNG and paste the ready-made <meta> block into your <head>.

What are the correct Open Graph image dimensions?

1200×630 pixels at 1.91:1. Every card Oginify outputs hits that spec exactly, so X, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord and iMessage all render the large-card layout consistently.

Do I need to write a prompt to generate a card?

No. The URL is the entire input for the default entry point. Text-to-OG and image-to-OG entry points exist for cases where a URL isn't available yet.

Is Oginify free to try?

Yes — 6 image generations per day without an account, no watermark, native 1200×630 PNG. Upgrade for higher daily caps and API access when you need to generate at CMS or agency volume.

Which frameworks and CMSs does Oginify work with?

Any framework or CMS that lets you edit <head> or accept a custom og:image URL — Next.js, Astro, Nuxt, Remix, WordPress, Ghost, Sanity, Contentful, Notion, Framer, Webflow, and every static-site generator fed by them.

Can I embed Oginify into my own product's publish flow?

Yes. The API accepts a URL and returns four CDN card URLs in one call. See the /api page for authentication, rate limits and a CMS-webhook example.
