Frequently Asked Questions
Editorial workflows: per-article OG cards, publish-hook integration, and CMS coverage.
How do I automatically generate an Open Graph image for every article we publish?
Point your CMS's publish webhook at a handler that forwards the post URL to the Oginify API and writes the returned image URL back into the post's og:image field. WordPress, Ghost, Sanity, Contentful, Notion, Strapi and Payload all support outbound webhooks natively.
Which CMS platforms are supported for auto-generated OG cards?
Every CMS that supports outbound webhooks and a custom og:image field, which covers: WordPress (Yoast/Rank Math), Ghost, Sanity, Contentful, Notion, Strapi, Payload, Directus, Prismic, Storyblok, Hygraph, Webflow (via API), Framer (via API) and static-site generators fed by any of the above.
What happens to old articles that don't have an OG image yet?
Run a one-time backfill: POST the article URLs to the API in batches (60/min rate limit, ~1,000 URLs per hour), write the returned CDN URLs into the CMS's og:image field, and re-submit the sitemap so crawlers re-index. Most editorial archives (1k–10k posts) backfill in a day.
How much does it cost to auto-generate OG cards for a large editorial archive?
At publish-time volume (10–50 new posts a day), the Team plan covers it. For a one-time 5,000-post backfill, the Growth PAYG pack is usually cheaper than a subscription bump. Above 50k posts, contact us — the volume rate lands well below listed pack pricing.
Does the AI pick the right image for a news article vs. a long essay?
Yes. The generator reads the article content and proposes a default style: newspaper for news-flavored posts, magazine for long essays, terminal for engineering writeups. Lock a preset per publication if you want every post in the same visual system regardless of content.
Can editors override the generated card manually before publish?
Yes. The four-card output surfaces inside the CMS via the API — the editor picks one before hitting publish, or accepts the on-brand default. Manual override is the exception, not the rule; the auto-pick lands correctly on ~85% of posts based on our internal telemetry.
